Welcome to The New Zealand Classical Liberal blog. I intend in this blog to analyse New Zealand political issues from a classically liberal standpoint.
My central contention is that the course of government intervention in society and the economy seldom runs true, and that, despite the best intentions of (generally) well-meaning regulators, the unintended consequences of their interference tend to be more important and far-reaching than the intended outcomes. For this reason, I assert that government’s ability to intervene in the lives of individuals should be minimised.
While it can be taken as read that my sympathies lie to the right of the New Zealand political spectrum, I will not advocate a vote for any particular party and will discuss parties’ positions on their merits (as I see them).
